AWS re:Invent 2024 Experience: First time Attendee with All Builders Welcome Grant
Experience as a re:Invent 2024 Attendee via All Builder Welcome Grant by AWS.
Update: July 2025- I have been selected as a Mentor Advisor for ABW Grant this year for Re:Invent 2025
------------
I remember being on a work trip delivering a workshop in London when I received an email that I will be part of the 2024 cohort to attend Re:Invent Las Vegas - I was excited. The last 12 months of becoming an AWS Community Builder & Speaking at AWS community days were incredibly fulfilling.
The All Builder welcome grant deserves so much more credits for giving the opportunity for tech enthusiasts to attend AWS's largest summit of the year with a complementary Re:Invent conference ticket and everything else. P.S the ABW Grant is open until 15th July. Apply now for scholarship https://reinvent.awsevents.com/all-builders-welcome/
This is the entrance to Werner's keynote (the foyer will remind you of an Opera with live violinists ). Just Magical !

ABW Application Tips
- Share your personal journey, cloud contributions, AWS community contributions, github repos, link to your public talks, blogposts. Each journey is unique & AWsome.
Tips for the next cohort
- Planning is key. When Re:Invent event registrations opens up, favorite all your sessions in advance and book it when the site opens up . All the Level 300-400 sessions specially chalk sessions are all gone within 1 minute. The race to get confirmed reserved seats is real. It's easier to get a coldplay ticket than a Level 300 networking chalk session by the people at AWS who are working on core services ;-) The breakout sessions are all available on Youtube after few hours, so better to focus on Chalk talk sessions.
- Do not plan to attend two venue in same day. If you are attending sessions at Venetian, do not make a mistake to book next sessions in MGM of Mandalay Bay. It takes almost 30- 40 mins in the bus to travel from one venue to another.
- Arrive 1 day before the conference atleast to settle down. My flight was cancelled and I ended up arriving very late in the night - Jetlagged and missed the ABW opening ceremony and opportunity to meet people.
- Register to Re:Invent Vendor conference parties and events with your work email address and show up with your Re:Invent badge (Top Golf, Sphere, Helicopter ride, chainsmoker concert, Sumo wrestling, F1 Pit) It has it all. Networking will unleash so much new opportunities. I had so much fun in the helicopter ride seeing Vegas from the top. https://conferenceparties.com/reinvent2025/
- Here is a handy Notion template to help you plan your activities pre-departure and on arrival.
