Amazon Databases re:Invent 2025 Features Launch Summary
AWS released several interesting capabilities in the weeks leading up to re:Invent 2025 and during the event. In this article, I share a summary of those recent database announcements
All the talk in the last couple of years has been focused on GenAI. One can't build GenAI applications without data. In 2025, AWS announced a plethora of database features, and I wanted to share a summary of re:Invent 2025 database launch features, along with some features released in the weeks leading up to the event.
re:Invent 2025 database track featured several interesting sessions, and you can find a list of database breakout sessions videos here . The Database Savings Plan is the most impactful announcement, as it covers a wide variety of database services and will allow customers to have an easier path to manage and optimize database costs. I wanted to highlight several sessions that I believe many will find useful: PostgreSQL performance: Real-world workload tuning , Boost performance and reduce costs in Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS , Advanced data modeling with Amazon DynamoDB . I would like to point out a unique and interesting session DynamoDB: Resilience & lessons from the Oct 2025 service disruption . The session goes into the details of what happened during the October service disruption in us-east-1, but moreover, it dives deep into how AWS approaches large-scale system design, considerations, and AWS Correction of Error process
